(一)
【原句1】

【解读】
1. toy with意为“玩耍,戏弄,摆弄”。如:
When we were talking, the young lady kept on toying with her diamond ring.

2. toy with还可意为“不太认真考虑,把……当儿戏”,常用于toy with the idea of doing sth.结构。如:

I’d like to end the discussion on a more cheerful note.

2. 表达个人观点的常见词汇和短语还有:in my opinion, personally (speaking), from my point of view, for my part, as far as I’m concerned等。如:

Personally (speaking), I think the show is going to be a great success.
From my point of view, activities that can be done with minimal preparation are invaluable.

【解读】
1. 句中的Nowhere ... truer ...是“否定词+比较级”,表示最高级的含义。常见的此类否定词有:not, never, no, nothing等。如:
a. There’s nothing cheaper.
b. I can’t agree with you more.
c. This could give me no greater pleasure.
d. He had never felt less like talking to anyone.
注意:若此时比较级修饰单数形式的可数名词,其前要用不定冠词,即“a +形容词比较级+名词”,或“a +形容词比较级+ one”,one代替前面提到的名词,以避免重复。如:
a. I have never watched a better film.
b. —Did you enjoy yourself at the party?
—Yes. I’ve never been to a more exciting one before.
2. 本句以否定词nowhere开头,句子为倒装语序。否定词或带有否定意义的词语位于句首时,句子常用倒装语序。常见的此类词或短语有little, hardly, never, nor, nowhere, seldom, no sooner, not only, not until, at no time, in no case等。如:
a. Never in my life have I seen such a thing.
b. Seldom have we felt as comfortable as here.
c. They searched for hours, but nowhere could the missing book be found.
d. Not only did he speak more correctly, but he spoke more fluently.
e. At no time did I feel they were being unreasonable.
